A Look at India's Recent Agricultural Initiatives

 

·  Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN)(Launched on February 24, 2019):

A central sector scheme to provide financial assistance to land-holding farmers. It offers a benefit of Rs. 6,000 per year in three installments.

 ·  Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) (Launched in 2016):

Aims to provide financial security to farmers against crop losses arising out of unforeseen natural calamities.

·  Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY)(Launched on December 9, 2015):

A flagship scheme of the Government of India with the motive of irrigation efficiency by creating precision irrigation at the farm level.

·  Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan-Dhan Yojana (PM-KMY) (Launched on September 12, 2019):

A voluntary pension scheme for small and marginal farmers. It provides a minimum monthly pension of Rs. 3,000 to eligible farmers after attaining the age of 60 years.

·  Soil Health Cards (SHC) Scheme (Launched in 2015):

A scheme to issue Soil Health Cards to farmers every three years. It helps in recommending corrective measures and balanced use of fertilizers for improvement in soil health and fertility.

·  Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay SanraksHan Abhiyan (PM-AASHA) (Launched on September 23, 2020):

A central sector scheme to ensure fair and remunerative prices to farmers for their marketable agricultural produce.

·  Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) (Launched in 2015):

Aims at the promotion of organic farming in the country through various interventions for certification, infrastructure development, market support etc.

·  National Food Security Mission (NFSM) (Launched in 2007):

A centrally sponsored scheme to ensure food security by promoting production of rice, wheat, pulses, coarse cereals, oilseeds and cotton in a sustainable manner.

·  Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM) (Launched in 2014):

A centrally sponsored scheme for the improvement of indigenous breeds of cows.
